Day type
At the open, what kind of day was the one that just closed — normal, normal variation, trend, or neutral. The classification comes from the CBOT Six-Part Study Guide and is drawn as the initial balance band it is computed from.
What it looks like on a chart
The initial balance range as a band, labelled with the class of the day that just finished.
Where the definitions disagree
The classification is a description of a day that has already ended, not a forecast of the one starting. And a reader using a different anchor will get a different class for the same day — which is the finding, not a defect.
